Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 電影學系 === 104 === In the 21st century, following mass migrations of humans around the world, it is crucial to redefine and rethink the definition of immigrant and outsider. It has been several years now since a huge number of foreign workers and brides have started immigrating and taking part into Taiwanese society, infusing new life and dynamism into its culture, but also creating new social problems and challenges. “A scene of the sea” is a short film tackling this social issue. With three main characters, a foreign worker, a foreign bride, and a second generation of immigrants, “A scene of the sea” sets up a journey to depict the macro-phenomenon changing Taiwan society and demographic through its story. It also reflects the struggle and search of an identity by these immigrants. This thesis consists of five chapters: the first chapter introduces the origins and the motivation for writing the script. The second chapter documents studies and discussions regarding the issue of second generation immigrants. The third chapter explains the framework and treatment of the filming script. The fourth chapter records the process of filming and difficulties encountered. The last, fifth chapter concludes the thesis with the response and feedback received after the public screenings. A full script, introduction of team members, production schedule, production cost and crew and cast list are included in appendix for reference.
