They are Guqin (seven-string zither instrument), Cheese (strategy game of Go), Chinese calligraphy, Chinese painting. Guqin is the first place among the other four arts. According to Baihu Tong (白虎通), written in Han Dynasty, it says “The Qin signifies restraint. Restrain the heterodox to bring order to people's thoughts.” This also affected the Chinese scholar that given the Guqin on high status and as a self-cultivation instrument. In 2003, the Guqin had become the "Intangible cultural heritage" of United Nations, colleges and non-governmental organizations are more actively to promote Guqin culture, in addition to teaching, compose new Guqin pieces, where there is another important part which is Dapu (Reinterpretation of Guqin Tablature Manuscript) Through the works of Dapu, enable to represent the ancient Guqin music. However, the woks of the melody after Dapu, might not same as ancient time, but this is the way to reconstruct Guqin music and this type of interpretation of Guqin music is in the way of its cultural, therefore, various schools, qin melodies for the same notation, may have different interpretation. This thesis is to research the reinterpretation of Guqin tablature manuscript and the piece to research is “Dun Shi Cao” (遯世操) which collected in“XiLuTang QinTung”(西麓堂琴統).
