Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 資訊管理系 === 104 === May in our case, is the store manager at Pami Chocolate garden in NanTou, who is in charge of merchandise design, manufacture and operation of the garden. Pami Chocolate garden locates at a far-off country roadside in Nan-tou County. With the hard work of the owner and the store manager, it involves gradually from a plain tea farm into a beautiful garden with green grass. In addition, with more and more exposure on the media and blogs, the number of visitors grows every year. The purpose why the garden was founded in the first place is to pass the concept of “leading an environmental friendly & simple life” to the next generation, while contributing to the local school support and charity organization. After several years of dedication, Pami finally became stable and profitable. However, the management team of Pami desired to expand the area of this garden and to plant trees around. The communication of this proposal with other tea gardens and local farmers did not proceed as smoothly as the team expected. On the other hand, although the increase of visitors made Pami more profitable, the visitors without reservation became more as well, which caused traffic congestion and staffs workload. Due to these problems, the management team decided to shorten the business hours. This decision resulted in revenue decreased and disagreements between staffs. Unfortunately, the increasing cost of coco bean in the past years, lack of the recognition from the employees, critics from customers and the dilemma between business development and environment protection have made May to realize that if the garden does not profit, they cannot survive, not to mention any contribution to local charity and school support. And hence, May is hoping to change the current business model to maintain profit and so to re-invest to bringing more people’s awareness and recognition of the store concept of “an environment- friendly and simple life”. But how? This case is adapted Harvard Case Study research method to discuss the related issues, such as Business Model, Resources-based View, Ambidextrous Strategy, and Co-creation of value, in order to analyze the business model of Pami chocolate garden and to understand how general enterprises can strike balance between profit and environmental protection.
