The upstream IC design industry is in the forefront of product marketing, but due to such factors as regional area, funds, staff, and scale, real-time customer support and service cannot be used to promote the products, instead distributors are commissioned with marketing and business development; there is an inseparable relationship between the upstream IC design industry and its distributors. The aim of this study was to create a clearer understanding of the industry outlook and electronic component distributors’ development strategy, as given in terms of an in-depth discussion. This study first analyses the opportunities and threats facing electronic components distributors, and then conducts an internal and external company case analysis. This study found that strategic alliances between companies, as well as the mergers and acquisitions of companies, have become a new business mechanism; mergers and acquisitions can be used to increase a company’s representative horizontal product line and expand business scale while increasing the company’s competiveness. Breaking the status quo is the key to success when a company employs this development strategy. To solve the case study company's current problems, the company’s mission and management strategies must understand the direction of the analysis, and investigate development strategies, in order to resolve problems though compliance with guidelines, and propose recommendations for the future.
