Questionnaires of prevalence surveys conclude that students voluntarily participate in bands as a result of their aspirations of learning instruments and music, yet they lack time of practicing and listening to music. In addition, students’ appreciation ability needs to be improved. Interviews and questionnaires administered to instructors find that outmoded old apparatus, incomplete ensemble exercise, the lack of time of vouluntary practicing and appreciation and unfavorable atmosphere of self paid learning are crucial. Moreover, academic pressure is the main barrier of band development. Wind ensemble in music competitions needs to be improved. Students are urged to join cooperative activities.
According to the research results, concrete suggestions are given to school administration, qualified instructors, parents and prospective researchers so as to make school clubs operation more perfect and omnidirectional and benefit the future promotion of orchestra bands.
