Description
Summary:碩士 === 中國文化大學 === 英國語文學系 === 104 === Dubliners, written by James Joyce, is one of the most important novels in the twentieth century. The novel, consisting of fifteen short stories, describes childhood, adolescence, maturity, and public in Dubliners’ lives. My thesis will analyze women’s plight and survival strategies from three of the stories in the novel. In chapter one, I will discuss the women’s choice for their future, which should be followed free will or duty? In chapter two, I will examine the strategies which women took to seek marriage in early twentieth century. Chapter three will focus on the plight and the ways to survive for spinsters.
