Description
Summary:博士 === 東吳大學 === 中國文學系 === 104 === Feng Meng Zhen(1548-1606), courtesy name Kai Zhi, nickname Zhen Shi Ju Shi, born in Jiaxing Prefecture Xiushui (present Zhejiang Province Jiaxing County), was first place in Central Examinations in 1577 (fifth year of Wanli, Ming Dynasty). As Huiyuan and Scholar, he became Nanjing Guozijian Jijiu (Principal of Highest Educational Instituition). His works include ‘Kuai Xue Hall Collection’, ‘Kuai Xue Hall Random Notes’, ‘Kuai Xue Hall Diaries’, ‘Treatise on the Evolution of Civil Service’, ‘Xin Juan Ju Qu Feng Xian Sheng Jia Cang Shang Shu Yi’. Feng Meng Zhen is a man of honor and sincere, he has a wide acquaintance, people compliment him and his work as ‘Su Bai Feng Liu’, sharing the same status as Su Shi and Bai Ju Yi. Influenced by Ming’s Jiaxing District trend of private books collection, he became a book collector and printer, collecting artifacts. He was also a lay disciple of Ming’s high monk Master Zibo(1543-1603). He devoted his life to Buddhism and knows many monks and lay Buddhists. He dedicated in the publishing of ‘Jiaxing Zang’. He plays an important and iconic role in the late Ming literary world. Ming dynasty Li Wei Zhen(1547-1626) compliments him as a literati, good historian, magnanimous, straight forward, honest, hermit and Zen Buddhism, which concludes his extraordinary life. ‘Kuai Xue Hall Collection’ is Feng Meng Zhen’s most important poetry anthology, his closest people pooled funds and published it in 1616. There were only a number of thirty first edition copies, templates were gone in fire, which is why it was rare in the market. When Qing dynasty replaced Ming, ‘Kuai Xue Hall Collection’ was evaluated by editors of ‘Complete Library of Four Treasuries’ during the time of Qian Long, and was included into the ‘preserve book title’ category, and not the ‘Complete Library of Four Treasuries’, thus losing the opportunity to be reprinted. It was not until June 1997, when it was recorded into ‘Complete Library of Four Treasuries, Book Titles Series’. The destiny of books is hard to foretold, but the true value of Feng Meng Zhen’s ‘Kuai Xue Hall Collection’ could be shown through academic research. This study has three main focuses, which is Feng Meng Zhen himself, ‘Kuai Xue Hall Collection’, and book collection and printing.
