Summary:碩士 === 東吳大學 === 社會工作學系 === 104 === Residential placement has various services and aims, social workers are assigned with multi and interactive roles who established a professional and/or a kinship relationship which makes them feel complex and challenging.This research aims to understand the complexity of social workers' awareness, application, and struggles towards the dual and/or multiple responsibilities and functions, explore the strategy of the struggles due to the multi-roles and elements to stabilize the relationship in long-term practice as a recommendation for residential placement. This study is a qualitative research, used in-depth interviews conducted data collection method, interviewed a total of 5 social workers of long term girls' residential placement.. After integration and analysis obtained the following conclusions and discussions: 1. Most of the multiple roles of residential care's social worker are overlapping between kinship and professional relationship. For example: mentor/ counselor, listener, coordinator, and partner, a social worker usually plays a number of roles which are mixing. When the relationship involves power matter, it easily initiates the struggles between multiple relationship. 2. Residential care's social worker has formal and informal support system ,strategies as well as social work ethics and personalized approach when they face the struggles of multiple relationship. The elements to stabilize the relationship are the usage of positive language, avoid emotional discussion or emotional involvement in casework, establish cooperation, apply the traits of helping profession and trust. 3. Using the viewpoints of power by Foucault as the analyzing framework, this thesis aims to discuss the struggles due to the multi-roles of the social workers who work in the long term girls' residential placement,and explore relations of power working between client and co-workers from authority application, strategy,process and skill. It's helpful to increase dialogue and understanding, find a workable ways or resources. 4. The core essences of residential placement is family-centered treatment, if social worker can see and face the struggles as caretaker and protector on all the youth development's phenomenon such as authority relationship and boundaries conflict, it will reduce the frustration in work. Based on the findings above the study identified the following recommendation: residential care should be sensitive and recognize the importance of multiple relationships in professional boundaries; aside from internal and external supervision system, they should also increase individual consultant to deal with personal issues; professional training have to add the context of residential placement; sensitive and aware of authority issue and its application.
