The purposes of this study were to analyze the effects of applying cooperative learning into Group-Recreation-Activity on cooperative ability of third grade students in elementary school. Meanwhile, to explore the difficulties and appropriate strategies when using cooperative learning into Group-Recreation-Activity. Besides, to improve teachers' professional growth by action research. The participants consisted of twenty-five third graders. The research had designed six units of cooperative learning into Group-Recreation-Activity lessons, and it had been implemented for six weeks. The data collection included journal evaluations, group work reflections, students' assessments, interviews, and student feedback survey. This study is an action research, which were mainly adopted with qualitative materials while quantitative ones were auxiliary. The results are as follows: The cooperative ability of third grade students in elementary school could be promoted by using cooperative learning; Teachers could find difficulties and reflect appropriate strategies from teaching by using cooperative learning; Teachers could promote their professional growth by using cooperative learning.
