They have excessive paperwork, time pressures and a heavy workload. Yet their time for participating in leisure activities is limited. This may endanger their physical and mental health and even cause some deviant behavior. The central purpose of this study was to assess the relationships between leisure participation, job stress, job satisfaction, job burnout and turnover intention among police officers. This study adopted the questionnaire approach. The subjects were 310 police officers, ranking above two lines and three stars, of National Police Agency, Ministry of the Interior. The models of descriptive statistics, t-tests, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s product-moment correlation were applied to analyze the data. The findings of this study were as follows: 1. The subjects’ leisure activity participation reached the middle level. The subjects perceived middle level of job burnout and turnover intention. The subjects perceived upper-middle level of job stress and job satisfaction. 2. The results revealed that there were significant differences on leisure participation among background characteristics such as age, official rank, service unit, registered permanent residence. There were significant differences on job stress among background characteristics such as the level of education, BMI value, length of service, official rank, registered permanent residence. There were significant differences on job satisfaction among background characteristics such as gender, age, the level of education, BMI value, length of service, official rank, service unit. There were significant differences on job burnout among background characteristics such as age, marital status, BMI value, length of service, official rank, service unit. Significant differences were also found on turnover intention among background characteristics such as age, marital status, length of service, official rank. 3. The results showed that leisure participation was associated with increased job stress and increased job satisfaction but with reduced job burnout. Job stress was associated with increased job burnout and increased turnover intention but with reduced job satisfaction. Job satisfaction was associated with reduced job burnout and with reduced turnover intention. Due to the results of this study, several suggestions have been made to the authorities concerned, police officers and further researchers. With the hope of retaining and attracting excellent police officers, the administrators of National Police Agency were suggested to hold regular leisure activities, plan well the police officers’ duties and also encourage them to participate more in leisure activities to increase their job satisfaction and to reduce their job burnout.
