Summary:碩士 === 樹德科技大學 === 資訊工程系碩士班 === 104 === This study was designed to investigate the differences between flipped teaching by using the digital reading platform and direct instruction in learning effectiveness of primary school students in social studies areas. This study utilized a quasi-experimental design with two classes of third-grade students in Kaohsiung; the experimental group received flipped teaching by using digital reading platform while the control group received direct instruction. The study was mainly based on quantitative analysis. After teaching, the students received the local culture knowledge test and the questionnaire on learning attitude toward social studies. The independent-samples t-test was used in the analysis of the quantitative data to compare the two groups after the assessment. The student interviews were supplemented by qualitative analysis. The results showed a positive effect of using the digital reading platform in flipped teaching for primary school students. In the aspect of the local culture knowledge, the experimental group performed significantly better than the control group. In the aspect of learning attitude toward social studies, the experimental group obtained a significantly higher score than the control group in motivation, class participation, academic confidence, and local cultural identity.
