And because of the high risk and responsibility of facing hundreds of offenders, handling incidents and command safety, and the specialty of work content and working time, their daily routine would be very difficult to match with family and friends. The lack of staffs is a huge problem of the current system, which has impacted adaptation and morale significantly and led to burnouts and quits. From statistics, the number of quitted staffs of Tainan Prison has climbed in the past years.The purpose of this study is to discuss the interrelationship between job characteristics and employee turnover intention. The study is based on a collection of questionnaires distributed to a sample of 388 staffs of Tainan Prison and Tainan Detention. All the collected data are analyzed respectively by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, correlation, and regression. The major findings of this study are as follows:(1)All the background variables except education level show significant difference on job characters.(2)All the background variables except education level show significant difference on turnover intention.(3)There is a significant difference between job characters and turnover intention.(4)Job riskiness, working closure timing and job importance can significantly predict and have impact on turnover intention. On the other hand, job importance, working autonomy, and job riskiness can significantly predict and have impact on job evaluation.Based on the above findings, it is suggested that the supervisor organizations should pay attention to this situation. As the job needs to improve professional skills and accomplishment, the training should be reinforced, and the working hour and system should be able to adjusted to reduce the turnover intention.
