The Chi-Mei Island is selected for computer simulation. First, the power system topology, generator’s models and load are collected in detail. Then the one-line diagram and the associated generator control model are set up in the Cyme Psaf program. Furthermore, this paper also collects the power output of an existing PVGS and related climate data for statistical analysis. It is therefore to know the typical ramp rates of the PVGS on the island. After that, power flow analysis is performed under peak and off-peak condition with a additional PVGS. Then the transient stability analysis is executed with considering the tripping and power variation with various ramp-rates of PVGS. The dynamic response of diesel generators, voltages and system frequency are examined carefully. A battery energy storage system (BESS) is also installed with frequency regulating mode and power smoothing mode to help the operation of the Chi-Mei micro grid. The execution of this thesis can improve the penetration of PVGS significantly. It is very helpful to the development of sustainable energy.
