To understand visitors’ characteristics, visiting motivations, satisfying experiences and suggestions after they visit the exhibition, attend the Indigenous culture activities and Cahamu market. The study uses multi-method research which includes self-administered questionnaires, interviews and observation to cross analysis data. The survey results show that most visitors of the Cahamu Gallery are non-Indigenous (Taiwanese: 67%), the second most numerous are Indigenous people, and others are foreigners. Half the people are first time visitors, and most of them visit with their families and friends. The Indigenous culture activities and Cahamu market are the most attended visitor activities, and exhibition the least. The questionnaires show that the visitors’ core motivations to visit the Cahamu Gallery are the identity of Taiwan Indigenous history and culture. The third motivation is education, which shows that visitors want to learn about Indigenous culture. The highest satisfying experience of visitors is cognitive experience, and the lowest one is introspective experience. The study provides 19 suggestions about the operation of the Cahamu Gallery and further research. The suggestions for developing the under-represent visitors are: (1) promoting the exhibition information during the opening time of the Indigenous culture activities and Cahamu market; (2) informing more potential visitors know that visitation to the Indigenous culture objects is free. The suggestions for the exhibition are increasing different kinds of the Indigenous objects and enhance the interpretation programs, so that visitors will gain more knowledge about the Indigenous cultures and have informal learning experiences. Finally, for planning the activities in the future, the Cahamu Gallery can use the multiple interpretation methods to present the Taiwan’s Indigenous cultures to attract more visitors, and improve the satisfying experiences of visitors. Key words: Indigenous Culture Museum, ethnic identity, visitor research, visiting motivations, visiting experiences, satisfying experiences. Liu, Wan Chen 劉婉珍 2016 學位論文 ; thesis 253 zh-TW
