The questionnaire investigation was adopted in this study. After the valid questionnaire copies were retrieved, the SPSS for Windows 18.0 was used to analyze the obtained data in the descriptive statistical analysis, the independent sample t test, the one-way ANOVA, the posterior comparison (LSD), and the Pearson product-moment correlation. The findings were as follows: 1. Female respondents accounted for a larger proportion, aged from 41 to 50. Those with a master’s degree outnumbered those without a bachelor’s degree or lower. Those who had worked as a teacher for over 16 years were in the largest number. Most of the teachers had been married, and those with two children occupied a larger proportion. A greater number of the teachers were at the position as a mentor. 2. In terms of participation, “outdoor sports” ranked the highest, while “dancing” came the last. There were a larger number of those who participate in recreational sports once a week. And most of them engaged in the sports for 30 to 59 minutes, at an intermediate level in terms of intensity. 3. In the dimension of “health and physical fitness”, those aged over 51 showed a more positive attitude than those aged from 31 to 40; in the dimension of “confidence and sense of achievement”, those who had worked as a teacher for 11 to 15 years were more passionate about leisure sports than those for 6 to 10 years. There were no significant differences in other dimensions. 4. “Venue and facility” and “personal factors” had greater effects; “family and work” had less effect. 5. There was no significant correlation between participation and attitude. 6. There was a significant low-level negative correlation between participation and constraints. 7. As for leisure sport attitude and constraints, “venue and facility” showed a significant low-level negative correlation. 8. According to the research results, this study suggested this: More attention should be paid to equipping elementary school teachers with complete personality and sound mental and physical health; more diverse sports should be offered, and diversified sport venues and facilities should be established. More efforts should be made to develop teachers’ habits of participating in leisure activities. We should stimulate the passion for sports among the teachers and students in the elementary schools in Miaoli City, help the school children to develop a positive life attitudes and hence to build a friendlier and healthier campus. The findings were as follows:
8. According to the research results, this study suggested this:
More attention should be paid to equipping elementary school teachers with complete personality and sound mental and physical health; more diverse sports should be offered, and diversified sport venues and facilities should be established. More efforts should be made to develop teachers’ habits of participating in leisure activities. We should stimulate the passion for sports among the teachers and students in the elementary schools in Miaoli City, help the school children to develop a positive life attitudes and hence to build a friendlier and healthier campus.
