Plus the influence of Japanese hot spring culture, Taiwanese pay increasing attention to health maintenance and select hot springs as their major leisure activity option in winter, which promotes the establishment of hot spring hotels and spas like bamboo shoots after a spring rain. Taking a bath in a hot spring can relieve your physical pain and mental stress due to daily work.
In order to learn the important factors influencing the selection of hot spring hotels by tourists, this study referred to relevant literature, adopted Modified Delphi Method (MDM) to conduct a questionnaire, analyzed the influencing factors based on the consensus of experts, and established a hierarchical framework based on the factors. Then, it calculated the weights of the influencing factors on the selection of services of hot spring hotels by tourists with Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP).
Finally, it concludes that the factors which are attached with high importance by tourists are, in order, hotel accommodation, hot spring quality, hotel food and beverage, and hotel personnel. And the secondary factors which are attached with high importance by tourists are, in order, neat and clean room, complete safety facilities, overall comfort of a hotel, freshness of ingredients, and clear signs of a hotel. Taiwanese hot spring hotels shall provide diversified, professional, and considerate services so that tourists will feel that they are honored to have excellent quality and reasonable price in return. Therefore, the key factors as of its service quality will affect a tourist's decision to select the hot spring hotel.
