Check the convergence of solution, the simulate principal stress is used to predict the crack initiation and orientation, also the predicted crack is compared with a cracked wrench under the torque test. The crack initiation is quite coincident, but the crack orientation shows some different. The objective of optimal design is to minimize the principal stress of the wrench. The strength of the wrench is increased, but the weight is unchanged. Orthogonal array of Taguchi method is used to carry out simulations of different combinations of chosen parameters.
