patients has become a worldwide concern. In recent years, many experts and
scholars to explore dementia causes, how to treat with the establishment of
dementia patients with friendly environment to reduce illness development, also
began to concern in environmental activities, planning and design, hope to give
people with dementia have a safe and suitable living environment. The all share
the view that dementia care environment is a special design of the environment,
environmental interventions have been considered to have an important function.
The purpose of this study was to(1) Investigation of dementia in Taiwan day care
center, in order to understand the Taiwan dementia center environment.
(2)Explore Taiwan day care center environment and problems of environmental
quality assessment, as demented elderly day care
center environment reference of improvement. Adopting the research method of
literature review, investigation method, observation method, index assessment
method was used to study this research.The selection of northern region 2 in
2014, 2015 years established dementia day care center for environment is the
analysis of the current situation and environment quality assessment and analysis.
Research results: (a) regional culture characteristics for living in the same
area is familiar with the unique life experience, regional culture characteristics is
easy to link past experience of life, let the life of people with dementia have
continuity and feel comfortable and safe. (b) diversified occupational therapy
activities space can provide different classes of therapeutic activities suitable for,
and a series of small space can let people with dementia multiple selection
mechanism. (c) in sensory stimulation environment elements, should choose
relatively easy for people with dementia will produce the curious, and stayed to
watch the elements, which can cause dementia elders talk to each other and to
discuss and promote cognitive ability. (d) practical guidance facilities, in each
locker with dementia related image, can help identify more effective. Open the
window space, can make the elderly with dementia in the interior can also feel
the sunshine twilight and help to change the reality. (e) space arrangement
display will be the interactive effects of dementia among the elderly should be
diverse leisure activities and let the lost wisdom elderly social behavior.(f) in the
public space should avoid reflex stimulus, will let people with dementia visual
hallucinations (g) using space activities connected node corridor construction
indoor space around, will be able to provide people with dementia safety and
convenient to walk the path.
