When there are electrical machinery, appliances or equipment used in places where fire and explosion are suspected, it is necessary to divide the hazardous areas. This study is aimed at the practical planning in the southern petrochemical plant of a certain enterprise. For hazardous locations where flammable gases or vapor are stored, explosion-proof equipment is constructed in accordance with current government specifications or regulations to prevent sparks or high temperatures generated by electrical equipment, causing fire or explosion. Relevant safety protection planning is based on the use of explosion-proof electrical equipment, and appropriate explosion-proof zoon is required in hazardous areas. Base on the planned hazardous area level and explosion characteristics, the relevant specifications of explosion-proof electrical equipment are selected to reduce the occurrence of fire and explosion accidents and ensure the safety of personnel life and property. Through the division of the above-mentioned explosion-proof zoon, the dangerous areas in the plant have been effectively monitored in the past two years without any fire or explosion accidents.
