In order to meet such market demand, firstly, the Infrastructure of smart manufacturing system, i.e., industry internet of things, must be established, so that the connection between machines and the connection between machine and system could be built. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is to develop a set of EtherCAT-based smart assembly system with the spirit of industrial 4.0. In the hardware architecture, the assembly system consists of a set of assembly lines including five sets of machines for the second level test mechatronic, a SCARA robot and a management server. In the software design, the design planning PLC program, motion control program, man-machine interface and communication program to integrate control assembly line and SCARA robot arm. At the software level, the programming of PLC programs, motion control programs, human-machine interface(HMI) and communication programs are required to integrate the assembly line and the SCARA robot. Besides, the application program in the management server for cloud management, data acquisition and storage is designed with WebAccess to enable management server to give an production order and monitor production information for large amount of data analysis and cloud computing. The experimental results show that the management server of the system can release the production order and monitor the production information, and the assembly line can automatically adjust the manufacturing process according to the different products. Therefore, the proposed system not only has the spirit of smart manufacturing, but also can be provided as a teaching equipment for the cultivation of industry 4.0 talent.
