Description
Summary:碩士 === 中原大學 === 物理研究所 === 105 === The purpose of this study is to fabricate high-pretilt (~70°) angles liquid crystal (LC) cells. We use polarized optical microscope (POM) to observe the LC alignment in LC cells, and use crystal rotation method to measure their pretilt angles. First, we blend horizontal and vertical alignment polyimides (PI) to achieve high-pretilt alignment layers (~70°) on ITO substrates successfully. Then, we use a mixture of Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA, homeotropic) and Dimethyloctadecyl[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]ammonium chloride (DMOAP, homogeneous) aqueous solutions instead. To understand the alignment effects of the mixture, we begin with the pure PVA and DMOAP aqueous solutions to fabricate alignment layers by spin coating, immerse, and immerse in situ ultrasonication. After analyzing the results, we use the mixture to make high-pretilt liquid crystal cells by varying the immersion time and PVA / DMOAP ratio.
