The primary construction of the active alignment system includes a 6DOF Stewart Platform and a vision-based pattern recognition system. Such an alignment system is able to achieve the target by using a single mechanism providing satisfactory six degree-of-freedom and by using different patterns to match the interested region of interest of each slanted edge on the image of resolution chart. Using the slanted-edge technique the spatial frequency response is calculated to obtain the spatial resolution of the camera module. The evaluation value of the alignment of each axis is then calculated by the evaluation function of spatial resolution, which indicates the image quality of the camera module and the reference for further adjustment of each axis. Adjustment in the space will be carried out by the 6DOF Stewart Platform. The alignment evaluation value is 0.0031, which is smaller than 0.0044 of the selected commercial product of optical lens with a line pair gauge.
