This study attempts to discuss these culture shocks that tour guides have while doing the guiding services would cause tour guides’ emotional labor or even cause their job stress? Therefore, this study examines the relationships among culture shock, emotional labor and job stress. The questionnaire surveys were conducted and the respondents of this study are all tour guides in Taiwan (including Chinese speaking and non-Chinese speaking tour guides). All of 219 valid respondents have at least one year guiding experience. There are three hypotheses in this study. The results of this study all support our hypotheses. Firstly, culture shock can positively influence on shallow emotional labor. Secondly, tour guide’s shallow emotional labor can positively influence on job stress. Tour guide’s deep emotional labor can negatively influence on job stress. Finally, culture shock what tour guides having can positively influence on his or her job stress.
