Description
Summary:碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 建築碩士學位學程 === 105 === With the rapid economic development and the enhancement of medical standards, population aging in Taiwan is increasing due to declining fertility rates and rising life expectancy.Population aging represents a demographic change and in response of the changes of social environment, many regions in Taiwan have built senior citizens’ activity centers in recent years. This research was aimed to investigate “Evaluation of the Planning and Location Plan of the Cultural Center for the Elderly in Tainan City” of 2013. According to the findings, a majority of senior citizens’ activity centers have been founded in most districts of the city. However, most of them do not have proper facilities for older adult due to insufficient service activities, unclear space composition and low usage rates. This research attempts to examine space composition and service activities in the senior citizens' centers in Tainan through literature review, in-depth interviews, field observation and questionnaire. According to the findings, there is little difference in most of the service activities, equipment of facilities, and space composition provided by senior citizens' centers regardless of its size. Therefore, space cannot be properly used and abandoned is formed. The government does not have a clear specification of the space composition and service activities in the senior citizens' centers. Therefore, this research aims to provide necessary services and facilities for the senior citizens' centers according to different scales of the building and its findings can serve as the basis for future planning of the government's policies for the elderly.
