This study developed an hourly rainfall generator for generating short-duration rainfall events. Hourly rainfall data from three meteorological stations in Taiwan were used as the case study. Statistical analysis was preformed to obtain the parameters of the short-duration rainfall events, and those parameters were used by the generator to reproduce hourly rainfall data. Comparative results indicate that the proposed hourly rainfall generator can reproduce rainfall data with similar values of the average and standard deviation. In addition, this study used the hourly rainfall generator to generate short-duration rainfall events under the scenario of increased urban temperature in Taichung, with the established statistical relationship between the increased urban temperature and the change rate of rainfall parameters in Taichung.
