Description
Summary:碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 會計學系碩士班 === 105 === The purpose of this research is to investigate whether the patents owned by the firms listed on the Go Incubation Board for Startup and Acceleration Firms (GISA) contribute to net revenues. The sample of this study consists of 77 companies that still list on the GISA board in 2016. The sample period covers from 2012 to 2015. The empirical results show that the patents of the firms listed on the GISA board are beneficial to the firms’ Revenue. Moreover, not only the newly received patents contribute to the firms’ current revenue, but the patents generated previously also do. However, the economic benefits generated by previously received patents are lower than the benefits generated by new patents, suggesting the economic benefits of patents will decline. Furthermore, the effect of patents on a firm’s earnings differs for different industries. The effect is more pronounced in the industry of electronic technology and the industry of agricultural. However, the relationship between newly received patents and earnings is negative for the firms in the biological industry. The relationship between newly received patents and earnings is insignificant in other industries.
