Moreover, the model of national health benefit transforms according to the finance and the public habits for receiving medical treatment, which thereby affects the management of the hospital. Although the current medical system requires progressive medical care, the system does not come with strong supporting measures while the public awareness on progress medical care is poor. Under the abundance of medical resources in urban area, the people have high degree of freedom and various options for medical treatment. In the example of Taipei area, there are eight medical centers and some district hospitals, while the public mostly prefers seek for medical treatment with district hospitals and medical centers, resulting in the pressure of serious survival competition in regional hospitals. The services and products offered by regional hospital industries are closely related to the health welfare of the community while the relevant industry background is filled with transient changes. The vision and future development of the hospitals could likely be affected at all time by the change of a policy or market environment. The purpose of the study aims to analyze the regional hospital industries in Xinzhuang, Wugu and Taishan District hospital industries and the case hospital to understand the market overview. The study intends to grasp the development trends of competition in regional industry competition to comprehend the opportunities and threats of the competing environment through the analysis on external environment and Porter’s Five Force Analysis. Furthermore, the study analyzes the internal environment and value chain activities of the hospital in addition to conduct comparative analysis with district hospital before drawing conclusion on the strengths and weaknesses of the hospital. The study thus applies SWOT analysis to develop feasible competitive advantage strategy. The final conclusion of the study suggests that the competitive advantages of the case hospital at current stage include: proper geographic location, strengthened treatment quality of care services for chronic diseases, establishment of long-term case upstream/downstream network industry market and quick medical examination schedule. It is suggested for the case hospital to adopt differentiation strategy below: expand the service objects of outpatient integration, support of care for chronic disease, long-term case medical resource support, and management of community prevention health care. The suggestions for peer industries include: Participation in governmental medical quality plan, creation of reciprocal situation, in-depth community management, and establishment of close relationship bonds.
