Summary: | 碩士 === 輔英科技大學 === 護理系碩士班 === 105 === Background: Stress, occupational fatigue and sleep disorders in the workplace is a growing concern in the current state. These changes not only threaten the health of labor, but also reducing the quality of life, lost productivity and higher healthcare costs.
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of auricular acupressure for labor’s occupational fatigue, quality of life and sleep quality.
Methods: A quasi-experimental design was used. The participants were allocated to experimental and compared to a wait-list control group by convenience sampling. The experimental group (n=36) received an 8-weeks auricular acupressure (three times a day, at least thirty minutes each time); whereas the control group (n=41) did not receive the intervention at the same time. The questionnaires were measured before and after the intervention program.
Results: The results showed that the experimental group and the control group in the quality of life of the Role physical(β=-0.41, Wald χ2 =3.90, p=0.048), body pain(β= 0.62, Wald χ2 =4.50, p=0.034), general health(β=1.40, Wald χ2 =4.51, p=0.034), the role of emotional(β=0.48, Wald χ2 =5.66, p=0.017) and sleep quality of sleep duration(β=0.17, Wald χ2 =4.15, p=0.042), daytime dysfunction(β=-0.34, Wald χ2 =11.38, p=0.001), are statistically significant differences; but in the occupational fatigue(β=-0.85, Wald χ2 =0.41, p=0.519) is not statistically different.
Conclusion: This study demonstrates that auricular acupressure can improve the quality of life, sleep quality. This study suggests the change of occupational fatigue and related psychological indicators should be followed for a long-term effect in the future.
