Taiwan is currently facing the aging of the population and the low fertility
rate of the predicament, estimated population over 65 years of age will
account for 14% of the total population in 2018. Officially, Taiwan entered
the aging society, reflecting the national health better, but it cause more
support pressure to young people, Aging society will affect Taiwan's future
development.
In order to relieve this crisis, the Government has made plans to develop
long-term care system in view of the experience of health insurance in our
country. It has affected the development of the operation strategy by the
factors such as policy uncertainty and lack of resources. The study will
explore whether the business strategy of different nursing home will affect
the performance of business. Through the literature and research results, to
assess the status of domestic and foreign long-term care and trends to
enhance, understand and expand long-term Care industry vision.
Methods
As Miles and Snow strategy classification, classify by nursing home in
Southern Taiwan: By ANOVA analysis the characteristic and strategy of
nursing house and the performance of long-term care services (business
growth rate, caretaker growth rate, employee turnover rate, new customer
occupancy rate and annual turnover, etc.) were studied. (Including Tainan
City and Kaohsiung City) nursing home, a total of 70 questionnaires were
sent, recycling 51, the recovery rate of 72.56%.
Result
The type of policy is “defensive" (50.98%) and at least “reactive”(11.76%).
The results show that the type of strategy, institutional ownership,
organization size and evaluation grade are significantly related to the
performance of the strategy (p<0.1). The performance of small-scale
organizations is significantly higher than that of large-scale organizations.
Conclusion and Suggest
Taiwan's long-term care service market is still in the stage of development.
At present, most of them still operate in private institutions. With the
development of policies, they can provide more services in the case of

better economic strength. The more able to trust, so if you can enhance the
degree of trust, for the growth of institutional performance is more
significant, such as participation in nursing home evaluation.
The smaller the performance of this research institutions, the more obvious
the growth of performance, the adoption of conservative defensive strategy,
small-scale institutions are also the most able to reach the goal, to complete
the established economic scale objectives. In order to establish a
competitive advantage in the long-term care service market, strategic
planning is more important to guide the rational allocation of resources,
with limited resources, and through organizational analysis to correct
organizational weaknesses and enhance competitive advantage and
promote the greatest benefits of institutions.
