Findings show such persulfate reaction could effectively treat the true color of textile wastewaters. Key factors affecting persulfate process, including pH persulfate and catalysts dosages, ultrasound (US), and temperature were studied. Process including, PS, PS/US, PS/Fe0 (FeS), PS/Fe0 (FeS)/heat, and PS/Fe0 were compared for the decolorization efficiency. Under a condition of initial ADMI 1100, PS 1×10-3 M, Fe0 1 g/L, 50°C, pH 3.0, a decolorization of 80% was achieved in the PS/Fe0/US process. Under the same condition, the PS/FeS/50°C could promote decolorization efficiency upto 92%. Both Fe0 and FeS coluld effectively remove color from wastewater, however Fe0 is able to reclycle several times, which is a better choice for wastewater treatment. Findings indicated that Fe0 and FeS activated PS process could rapidly detructe the dye molecular and remove COD from real textile water to reach the effluent standard.
