To discuss the special points of hanging silk puppet and the ritual performance of Zhong Kui is the main idea of the essay. It became so meaningful and deserved to be reserved after combining the hanging silk puppet which used to perform traditional drama and the ritual performance of Zhong Kui together. Thus, this essay divided into six chapters to discuss the culture of hanging silk puppet, the steps of performance of Zhong Kui, the relations between ritual performance and people. The first chapter is going to explain the motivations and the purposes of doing the research. By collecting the relative articles and field works to prove the essay and to build the structure of the essay; moreover, to analyze the results. The second chapter talks about Zhong Kui, the religion of Zhong Kui, hanging silk puppet, the ritual performance of Zhong Kui, and the situation of the performance in Taiwan. Chapter three provides background of master Lin, also some master Lin's experiences of being a performer. Chapter four shows the entire process and the content of the ritual performance of Zhong Kui by photo- illustrated instructions way, then explains the symbols and meanings of the performance. Chapter five indicates that the culture of hanging silk puppet is faded in Taiwan. The relative information almost lost. It seems to last no longer. The performance used to be a silent ceremony. That's in order to protect people not to meet the devil; however, master Lin thinks different. He advocates the more people come and see the better. Because of his novel view, the secret ceremony developed into an open activity. Nowadays , people even hold exhibitions to show it. We can see the evolution of this traditional event.
