In this study, we design a remote-monitoring system to improve the shortcomings of the traditional PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) industrial control system. A STM32F103 (Developed by STMicroelectronics) microcontroller unit is used as the master controlling chip, and a HLK-RM04-WiFi (High performance embedded UART-ETH-WiFi) is used as the communication module. The PLC devices are replaced by STM32 microcontroller units because they are more reliable and lower price. This system is operated remotely by personal computer or mobile phone. Smart handheld devices send specific commands to STM32 via internet to start forward/reverse rotation of two AC motors connected to STM32, meanwhile the data from STM32 are collected by sensors and the condition of the system operation are sent back to the handheld devices.
