During the Cold War, the American government attempted to build an American-centered mechanism of security and cooperated in Korean Peninsula, while South Korea wanted to develop its domestic economy under an environment of political stability and military protection. Therefore, with the strategic concern of military, economy and politics, the US-ROK alliance was able to develop steadily for 60’s years. Actually, the US-ROK alliance has encountered difficulties and challenges since the Cold War. This thesis uses the theory of Authoritarian Alliance to analyze the internal and external factors of US-ROK alliance which effect the US-ROK Alliance. Based on 5 variables from Ted Hopf” s theory: treat, power, value, fear, interest, this paper will combine it to Stephen Walt’s “balance of treat theory,” Schweller’s “balance of interest theory,” and Glenn Snyder’s “alliance security dilemma theory.” Also, this thesis will propose other variables to make the analytic framework more complete and explanatory. In sum, this article argues that the US-ROK Alliance has developed the common value of democracy, similar ideology, similar domestic political regime and economic regime, moreover, it will shape the similar institutional Community, when they solving international conflicts. 蔡明彥 2017 學位論文 ; thesis 221 zh-TW
