Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 台灣文學系 === 105 === This research focuses on the transformation of the Taiwanese prime-time drama “Hsiang-Tu-Ju” which uses Taiyu to reflect Taiwanese life after 2000. By examining Hsiang-Tu-Ju through genre analysis, this thesis discusses three aspects: text, audience and industrial production. In the drama as a text, foreign drama plots, “viral” issues and news are included in Hsiang-Tu-Ju, transforming the setting and plots as elements and the naming culture in Taiwan has gradually disappeared with respect to time. By using more Chinese and English instead of Taiyu in the drama, any vestiges of Taiwaneseness are erased from Hsiang-Tu-Ju . Through the audience, the social reception is lower as reflected in the themes in the series through discussions from productive consumers, news, youtuber and entertainment TV shows. The media uses their influence to affect the interpretation and the imagination of the public, which is tied to Hsiang-Tu-Ju as a lower cultural hierarchy. Within the Industry, more businesses are willing to sponsor Hsiang-Tu-Ju with funds and products, since Hsiang-Tu-Ju make profits via actors, who are idolized, as well as hiring successful script editors and selling popular songs used in the series. In sum, since technology has made the drama easier to consume, it is possible to also see a resulting transformation in Taiwaneseness popular culture that reflects changes in Taiwan society. This research aims to point out that Hsiang-Tu-Ju is a part of popular culture which shows the changes in Taiwan society in recent decades and the importance it has in the field of popular culture.
