Description
Summary:博士 === 國立暨南國際大學 === 諮商心理與人力資源發展學系輔導與諮商研究所 === 105 === According to my practice experiences on life-review for elderly which raised me the questions: What is self-integrity of elderly? How the process of integrity? By following the concepts of self-integrity that Erickson advocated, narrative inquiry (Clandinin & Cornelly, 2000/2003) was conducted in the study intended to explore the experiences of elderly self-integrity. Three female elderly participants (mean=86 yrs) were recruited from the elderly community service stop which located in central Taiwan by purposely sampling method. The data were collected by semi-structure interviewing focused on life events of the life course and daily life’s experiences. All the data was encoded to field text and analytical text through the way of narrative inquiry. The findings of self-integrity were embedded in the whole process of the study. Particularly, three self-integrity stories have been presented, including emotional/affect regulation, problem solving, and meanings construction of the life events. There have several characteristic of self-integrity in the ageing phase which include harmony, independent, and feel free in the daily life, self-confidence, harmony in relationship, altruist, involve in community activity and daily life arrangement, self-refresh, and death preparation. For the whole picture of self-integrity, the stories analyzed and interpreted by Erickson 3 W question of self-integrity. There were three conclusions as following: 1. Adult mental health is the base of enhancing elderly self-integrity. 2. Elderly self-integrity is accumulate learning experiences through the different phase of the life. 3. Self-harmony, self-refresh and self-transcendence are characteristics of elderly self-integrity. Lastly, there are several recommendations which include community elderly learning program, leading style of life-review method, elderly counseling practice and study in the future were provided.
