Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中央大學 === 土木工程學系 === 105 === We select the earthquake events with magnitude over 4.6 in earthquake catalog by the computer program, and plot the earthquake events on a figure. Then, we use the concept of the circular arcs of earthquakes to find out the locations of stress localization, and study the areas subjected to the localized stress interactions represented by the circular arcs of earthquakes. This research try to analyze these phenomena by statistics. Combining the concept of stress localization and the alignment of tension cracks in rocks, the analysis method of circular arcs of the earthquakes is developed. We standardize the alignment pattern, the length, the number of events included and the distance between the events, also we set the tolerance to the position of the events so as to have the same basis to draw the circular arcs of earthquakes. In this research, the earthquake events with magnitude greater than 4.6 from 2003 to 2013 in the earthquake catalog were analyzed, and 33 intersections of the circular arcs of earthquakes were found. Among these, 28 cases were found to have at least one event with the magnitude over 5.8 occurred within 3 years near to (within 70 km) the intersection points. This result makes us more confident about the correlation between the circular arcs of earthquakes and the strong earthquake events.
