Many villages are seen the development of tourism as a useful way to save the local economies. Although the tourism industry has brought the prosperous buesiness, the local residents have a huge impact on life. Moreover, the local residents’ attitudes toward tourists will affect the future of the local tourism industry. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore the impact of residents' emotional solidarity on tourism development support in different stages of tourism development and tourism dependency. The study collected responses from 392 questionnaires, from 98 residents and 95 local businessmen in Guosing area and 97 residents and 100 local businessmen in Puli area, with model testing conducted through linear structural equation modelling. The results indicate that the relationship between “residents' emotional solidarity” and “support for tourism development” is different according to the difference between its three constructs. “Welcoming visitors” and “Sympathetic understanding” will positively affect “Support for tourism development”. “Emotional close” has nothing to do with “support for tourism development.” In the two moderating variables, the residents of the early stage had more “Welcoming visitors”, but had little “Sympathetic understanding” to the tourists. On the other hand, the residents of the late stage showed high “Sympathetic understanding” to the tourists. Both in the "emotional close" are not significant. In addition, the residents with low tourism dependence have a higher demand for “Welcoming visitors”, but have a low demand for “Sympathetic understanding” for tourists. Those who with a high degree of tourism dependency have a lower sense of identity in the “Welcoming visitors.” However, the tourists have a higher “Sympathetic understanding”, but both in the "emotional close" are not significant. These findings can serve as a reference both for local planners in strengthening the emotional solidarity among the residents in various strategies, as well as for future studies on tourism development. 劉瓊如 李明燕 2017 學位論文 ; thesis 98 zh-TW
