This thesis presents an optical design method of a projection LED motorcycle headlamp which consists of a single secondary optical lens and a single LED light source. The light emitted by the LED can be effectively projected and controlled to the lighting area on a target plane through the secondary optical lens to comply with the regulation (ECE R113) of the European Economic Community. The results of the optical simulation show that the total efficiency of the LED motorcycle headlamp designed by this method can reach above 90% on the target plane and the ground plane at a distance of 25-m away.
