Summary:碩士 === 南華大學 === 國際事務與企業學系亞太研究碩士班 === 105 ===   On July 26th, 1974, our president announced the implementation of Waste Disposal Act, which made relevant departments began to modify policies toward management of waste, during which the departments also administered policies concerning waste, for example, garbage sorting, mandatory recycling, setting up recycling bins, use of incinerator, four-in-one resource recycling plan, use of official garbage bags etc, for the purpose of properly disposing waste produced due to technological advance through time. How was the recycling volunteers soaking with sweat able to withstand the mess and odor of the recyclables for such long periods of time?   This research is a qualitative research from 5 orientations, self-development, altruistic factors, pursuit of interpersonal relations, leisure motivation and religious belief; with analysis of reading materials and interviews with volunteers from Tzu Chi recycling stations and neighborhood recycling stations, in the end, analysis result are complied to conclude the motivations of recycling volunteers, in order to provide government environmental department reference to plan policy and promote it.   According to the analysis of the interviews, the research results are shown as follows: 1. Self- Development: The volunteers through recycling work, learned how to sort recyclables, what to do before recycling and classify the recyclables etc, and understood the meaning of recycling; therefore, was able to personally practice the act of recycling and from the act of recycling gained self-assurance. 2. Altruistic Factors: The volunteers are proud to provide service for earth, society, community, and recycling stations; moreover, they are able to pass the correct recycling knowledge to their families hoping everyone recycles; therefore, the volunteers are willing to continue to provide their services. 3. Pursuit of Interpersonal Relation: Volunteers made many friends upon entering the recycling group, caring for each other made the volunteers feel like a family. 4. Leisure Motivation: Joining the recycling volunteer work enriched the volunteers’ lives, the family like co-workers share and learns with each other, thus broadened their life vision and added happiness; in addition, moving their bodies made them healthier. 5. Religious Belief: Volunteers at the Tzu Chi recycling station follow the environmental protection idea of Master Cheng Yen; thus, are willing to volunteer at the recycling station; volunteers at the non-religious neighborhood recycling stations were not influenced by their own religious belief to do so.
