Summary: | 碩士 === 南亞技術學院 === 機械工程系機械與機電工程碩士班 === 105 === With the advancement of modern technologies, the deep hole machining process becomes omnipresent when it comes to Aerospace engineering, Semiconductor industry, National defense industry, Industrial engineering, Mold manufacturing as well as Medical applications. Because of factors such as “Built-up-edge” and tool deflections, deep hole machining process could sometimes be arduous. In this experiment, not only Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (WEDM) but also Ultrasonic Machining (USM) is employed to compare with the traditional drilling process in the following four aspects: Surface roughness, True position, Perpendicularity and Dimensional tolerance. Furthermore, influences of USM on cast iron will also be discussed in this research.
After evaluating the quality of machined holes from aspects as Surface roughness, True position, Perpendicularity and Dimensional tolerance, we conclude that USM is superior to WEDM which, though, is better than traditional drilling process. When comparing the differences between processes with or without ultrasound, improvements in Surface roughness as well as Dimensional tolerance are most significant, while True position and Perpendicularity seem to be irrelevant to the assist of ultrasound.
