The study’s research framework and methods are established through investigation of relevant literature on crisis management as well as communication strategies. The research utilizes questionnaire research method with Kaohsiung City police officers as subjects. A total of 550 questionnaires were sent, with 520 retrieved, 506 of them effective samples, yielding an effective response rate of 97.31%. Data analyses were then conducted on the 506 effective samples using statistical methods including independent t tests, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson product-moment correlation analysis as well as two-way ANOVA. Data analyses yield the following nine research conclusions: I. Kaohsiung City police officers’ current perception towards crisis management is at medium-high with perception of “recovery” at highest. II. Kaohsiung City police officers’ current perception towards communication strategy is at medium-high with perception of “concession” at highest. III.In terms of crises management by Kaohsiung City police officers, female examinees’ perception of “recovery” is significantly higher than that of males. IV.Kaohsiung City officers ages 51 and above exhibit significantly higher “crisis recognition” and “course of action” than officers ages 30 and below. They also have higher perception towards crisis management. V.Kaohsiung City police officers with three and more children have higher perception of “crisis recognition”, “crisis resolution”, and “recovery” than officers who don’t have children. VI.In terms of crisis management to Kaohsiung City police officers of different units, officers in operation districts all exhibit significantly higher perception in “crisis recognition” and “crisis resolution” than officers at precincts and substations. VII.In terms of communication strategy to Kaohsiung City police officers of different genders, female officers all exhibit significantly higher perception in “rationalization” and “focus shift” than male officers. VIII.In terms of communication strategy to Kaohsiung City police officers of different education backgrounds, officers with Master’s degrees exhibit significantly higher perception in “concession” than officers with bachelor as well ones with college degrees. IX.The higher the perception crisis management towards communication strategy, the better it is for conditions of police officers. Based on the above research conclusions, the study shall provide suggestions which shall serve as references to Kaohsiung City police officers, the police department as well as future researchers.
