In view of the universality of the applications of Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud technology, it is interesting to study how to combine the traditional automated parking lot with these practical techniques to improve the shortcomings of existing facilities or provide more flexibility and safety. In the thesis, we intend to develop an intelligent control/management system for a parking lot with the cloud and IoT technology. In the system implementation, Arduino® is used as kernel of the hardware for machine control as well as vehicle identification, where radio frequency identification (RFID) and mobile terminal application (APP) development are also included. In order to enhance the security of data storage, parking database will be uploaded to the cloud to replace the traditional storage. By using sensors and cloud computing technology, we further provide more convenient parking service and information inquiry. Based on our constructed physical simulation system, all the scheduled functions of the proposed system have been tested one by one. The tested results help us to confirm that our proposed system can be considered as a commercial R & D prototype which provides an alternative of the solution to an efficient management of parking lots.
