碩士 === 國立屏東科技大學 === 熱帶農業暨國際合作系 === 105 === The purpose of this study is to emphasize thecharacterization of Amis tribe’s traditional houses, its simplicity form of construction type is the alternative plan for quickly rehabilitating or building one’s house when it is damaged by natural disasters, or tribe’s people increase. In addition, building materials can be extracted locally, are eco-friendly to the environment, and have economic and sustainable benefits. The subject of study is focusing on traditional houses in Changbin Township ,Chenggong Township ,Donghe Township, and Chihshang Township After inductive argument on evolution of traditional houses through literature review ,field survey, observation ,case study ,and interviewing with tribe’s elderly, the traditional housing can be divided into five types, and they are original type, traditional type(flat type and gabled entry ype),improved type, modern type, and latter modern type. In the aspects of building materials, Amis’s tribe were able to utilize the local wood, bamboo, betel nut’s dry stem, thatch, and tube to build houses, this developed a different cultural meaning apart from other tribes. Especially natural and soft architectural patterns are combined with the totem ,the colors, and the rural landscape, it becomes one of the beautiful scenery of eastern Taiwan. The architectural type is an important characterization of the ethnic culture. The Ami traditional houses create a unique ethnic architectural aesthetics, and preserve its beautiful type through the natural building materials .Some traditional house are built by the compound constrction method in order to preserve the good traditional architectural culture continually ,promote the good living quality, and drive the development of the local tourism industry.
