Method: This study was a correlational, cross-sectional study. In this study, we recruited 135 female cases of type 2 diabetes mellitus in the outpatient service of a regional teaching hospital in the north region hospital. The research tools included basic information sheet, disease status, self-rated health status, The Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D), and Chinese Health Literacy Scale for Diabetes (CHLSD). The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis, bivariate correlation test, and linear regression analysis. Result: The survey of CHLSD showed that 13.33% of the cases were poor in their health literacy. In this study, the prevalence of depression in women with diabetes was about 20%. There was a negative correlation between health literacy and depression tendency under the adjustment of self-rated health status, economic satisfication status and education with multivariate linear regression analyses. For each rise of 1point of CHLSD score, the CES-D score decreased by 0.2 points and the result showed a significant statistic relation (z = -2.66, p = 0.009). It showed that a lack of health literacy was correlated with a higher tendency of depression. Depression was not associated with age, glycemic control, income, religion, insulin use, and co-morbidity status. Conclusion: According to the above results, about 20% of women with diabetes had a higher tendency of depression and there was a negative correlation between health literacy and depression. The self-rated health status, economic satisfaction and higher education status would also affect their depression tendencies. KUO,SU-CHEN 郭素珍 2017 學位論文 ; thesis 95 zh-TW
