碩士 === 國立臺灣體育運動大學 === 體育研究所 === 106 === Currently, the proportion of the basketball coach between the men and women is unbalanced. Based on a survey of 2016 Division One high school basketball teams, only three female head coaches in thirty high school male teams, while nine female head coaches in fifteen high school women teams. As a result, the purpose of this research is that we sincerely hope to understand the difficulty and situation about female coach instructing men basketball team from gender awareness, and contemplating what we could do to overcome and adjust to the dilemma. Furthermore we also take male perspective into account, figuring out what the men were thinking about female coaches in high school men basketball team .This research are based on three high school Division ONe men basketball teams, using document analysis method and semi-structured interviews. The most important thing is to obtain conclusion and some useful insights from the research. It’s inevitable that female might face some gender stereotypes while they are coaching men basketball team. We ought to take their difficulty and situation into consideration which caused by gender stereotypes, and eliminate the thought of partriarchal system. Women do have their unique way in leading men basketball team that might be able to cross the obstacles and break gender barrier.
