Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 音樂學系碩士班 === 105 === Carl Orff (1895-1982)was a German composer and music educator. "Carmina Burana" (1937) was the most important chorus composition wrote in his life. It was composed according to "Goliards Songs" that chanting poets in the 13th century intoned and was created with modern composing techniques. Carl Orff chose the lyrics of 22 songs and added the dances of 2 ones, which was co-performed by choirs, bands and dancers. This thesis is based on the first three choruses, "O Fortuna","Fortune plango vulnera" and "Veris leta facies", as the research theme. It was divided into five chapters. Chapter one, introduction, defines the research aspects. Chapter two researches into Carl Orff's background and the style of his music works. Chapter three introduces "Carmina Burana" and discusses its background, the contents of lyrics, the compositions compiled and the records of "Carmina Burana" performed at National Concert Halls. Chapter four interprets the singing of "Carmina Burana" chorus compositions and analyzes the music form, melody, tempo, tonality and harmony. Chapter five,conclusion, summarizes this thesis. This thesis uses the edition of piano accompaniment published by Schott to analyze this composition and singing interpretations. It is hoped to be the reference for music educators or performers of the future.
