| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 視覺藝術與設計學系視覺藝術教學碩士班 === 105 === This paper aims to explore the possible future scenario of “human manipulation and man-made creatures” from the perspective of science fantasy. By combining images of mechanical parts to form the appearance of creatures, the author’s design concept is to reflect on the impacts of current technological development on the living environment. Through linking images of mechanical parts and pictures of natural living beings, the author creates art that is based on the rationality of science. In addition, the author hopes to connect the connotation of artworks with social phenomenon and technological development, to
rationalize the science fantasy scenarios, and to realize the scenarios in the future.
The author has discovered that the science fantasy artwork usually ranges from words, images, and videos. However, there are only few pieces of “pure art” in the areas of science fantasy. Therefore, this research attempts to use colored ink as the media, supplemented with realistic painting and images of user interface, making the colored-ink paintings science
fantasy-like.
This paper is divided into 5 chapters. The first chapter, Introduction, includes research background, motivation and objective of the study, research method and framework, scope and limitation, and definition of terms. The second chapter, Literature Review, explores how human beings satisfy their imagination of future from science fantasy works since biotechnology started to change the environment. Under the context of the development of science fantasy, this paper will further explore and clarify the elements in the artwork, the techniques of expression and surrealism art in science fantasy. The third chapter, the Concept and Practice of the Creations, filters and rearranges the functions and appearances of different mechanical parts based on the transgenic principles. The appearance of the mechanical creatures, the techniques of expression and the process of creation are recorded in this chapter. The fourth and the fifth chapters, the Analysis of Artworks and Conclusion emphasize individual’s creation and reflection. Through reflection, the author transforms the spirit and ideas into the philosophy of science fantasy to express the emphasis on environment. Lastly, this paper attempts to introduce colored ink creation into the area of science fantasy, and looks
forward to create a new image for the color ink creations.
