Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 音樂學系碩士班 === 105 === Philippe Gaubert (1879-1941), was a very influential conductor, flutist, composer, and educator in 20th-century. He has a great contribution to the Romanticism. He not only inherited the "The French Flute School" ( L'école Fraçaise de Flute) spirit, but also inspired many excellent flutists. At that time his great reputation and influence has been highly affirmed and acknowledged in Paris. This thesis studied Gaubert's two works《Romance》 & 《Suite》. 《Romance》 was his first work composed for flute, and another work 《Suite》 composed in his late years. These two works perfectly presented Gaubert’s refined compositional techniques and musical styles. This thesis is divided into five chapters to discuss in depth the two works mentioned above. Chapter 1 is the explanation of motivation, purpose, scope, methods and literature reference. Chapter 2 is Gaubert’s biography, including composing style, introduction of his family, his growing background, and his important achievement. Chapter 3 is an analysis of 《Romance》 and 《Suite》, including the use of harmony, musical structure, and elements of the musical materials. Chapter 4 is the interpretation of 《Romance》 and 《Suite》, including the intensity, tempo, playing technique, music terminology, and accompaniment. Chapter 5 is the summary and final conclusion.
