The purpose of this study was to explore the process and effect on promoting parents of a preschool child with motor delay accompanied by autism to develop and implement the home-based motor intervention. The study was an action research implemented with guiding parents apply the strategies of motor intervention and pivotal response training, supporting parents employ routine activity to practice their child’s motor ability and enhancing parent involvement to achieve the goal of empowerment. The researcher collected the data by observation, interview and other unobtrusive measures to analyze the results of the research. a. The process of promoting parents of a preschool child with autism develop and implement home-based intervention includes four stages. b. Parent involvement in home-based motor intervention have made positive effects on increasing the motor ability of the child with autism. c. Parent involvement in home-based motor intervention have also made positive affection on improving the parent-child interaction and family function. d. The process of promoting parent involvement in home-based motor intervention helping service provider improving professional ability and more respect for parent’s decision. Based on the above results, promoting parent involvement in home-based motor intervention should be viewed the family as service group, encouraging and supporting parent collaboration on routine-based motor intervention at home. Finally, the future research can explore the issue about trans-disciplinary collaboration model and develop the framework of promoting parent involvement home-based intervention of preschool children with autism.
