GO 吳恆慧 碩士 國立臺北大學 犯罪學研究所 105 Since Gottfreson and Hirsch introduced the concept of low self-control in A General Theory of Crime (Gottfredson& Hirschi, 1990), the relationship between low self-control and adolescent delinquency has been supported by many empirical researches. Future orientation represents individual aspirations of future and it can initiate individuals’ desired behaviors. Self-control avoids individuals’ undesired behaviors. These two concepts affect individuals’ behaviors from different aspects. However, little is known about the relationship between future orientation and delinquency. Researcher measured future aspirations of adolescent based on the three-component model of future orientation (Seginer, 2009) and longitudinal study design was applied to explore the interaction between low self-control, future orientation and adolescent delinquency. The current study used data from the Etiology of Adolescent's Substance Abuse: A Social Learning Model(I)(III) to explore future orientation as it relates to self-control and delinquent behaviors among adolescents. T test, one way ANOVA, negative binomial regression were used to understand the effect of low self-control and future orientation to delinquency. Low self-control exhibited a significant positive effect and career future orientation exhibited significant negative effects on delinquency. In addition, career future orientation moderated the relation between low self-control and delinquency. Both low self-control and career future orientation had effects on delinquency. In conclusion, diverse delinquency prevention programs should be provided. Additionally the multiple component measurement of future orientation are suggested in future study.
